Nepal's trekking calendar revolves around two peak seasons that offer the most stable, rewarding conditions on the Everest Base Camp route.

- Spring (Mar–May): Rhododendron blooms, warm mornings, Everest climbing season energy
Autumn: October & November — The Prime Season
After the monsoon clears in late September, the Himalayan skies transform into an uninterrupted deep blue. October and November are widely regarded as the single best months for EBC. The air is dust-free after the rains, daytime temperatures in Namche Bazaar sit at a comfortable 5–15°C, and visibility can stretch beyond 100 km on a clear day.
The trails are at their busiest during this window — expect a lively, international crowd in the teahouses and a genuinely festive atmosphere. Nepal's two biggest festivals, Dashain and Tihar, fall in October and November, giving you a rare window into the country's most important celebrations.
Spring: March, April & May — The Climbing Season
Spring brings a second wave of trekkers and a completely different visual experience. The lower hillsides below Namche explode with pink and red rhododendron blooms from mid-March onward. This is also the primary Everest expedition season — you may spot climbers heading toward the South Col from Gorak Shep.
April is particularly magical: temperatures are warm, days are long, and visibility is still excellent before the pre-monsoon haze sets in during late May. Late May can bring increasing cloud cover and occasional afternoon thunderstorms, so aim to summit Kala Patthar before noon.
Winter: December to February — For the Adventurous
Winter trekking on the EBC route is absolutely possible but genuinely demanding. Temperatures at Gorak Shep (5,160 m) plummet to −20°C or lower at night, and some sections above Dingboche receive heavy snowfall. However, the trails are gloriously uncrowded, teahouse rates drop significantly, and the snow-draped Khumbu scenery is breathtaking.
If you are well-equipped with a four-season sleeping bag (rated to −20°C), proper down layers, and insulated boots, a winter EBC trek can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.
Monsoon: June to August — Generally Avoid
The South Asian monsoon brings persistent heavy rain, leeches on the lower trails, cloud-covered mountain views, and slippery paths. Most experienced guides advise against trekking to EBC during this period. The upper Khumbu Valley (above Namche) receives somewhat less rain, but the views you came for are almost always hidden.

Our Recommendation
For the majority of trekkers, we recommend October and November as the single best window. You'll get the most reliable weather, clearest mountain views, and most comfortable trail conditions. If you prefer fewer crowds and can handle the cold, November into early December is wonderful.
Spring (April–early May) is equally spectacular if you're drawn to the rhododendron blooms and the electric atmosphere of Everest expedition season.
