Licensed Trekking Guide
Sam has spent the last three and a half years leading both group departures and private trekkers through the Nepal Himalaya. His range runs from the classics — Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Base Camp, the Annapurna Circuit — out to Manaslu, Langtang and the restricted Nar Phu valley, and he is at his best on the offbeat lines most itineraries never reach.

Every guide holds a current trekking guide licence issued after formal training at the Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management, plus NMA or TAAN registration. We will show you the paperwork before you book — just ask.
Wilderness First Responder certification, re-taken every two years, with specific training in acute mountain sickness, HACE and HAPE recognition. Guides carry a pulse oximeter and log your saturation every evening above 3,500 m.
Our guides are empowered to turn a group around, add a rest day or call an evacuation without waiting for office approval. Nobody at TerraBlaze is ever penalised for making the cautious call.
Our team is Nepali, and the regions they guide are the regions they know personally — the teahouse families, the shortcut when the bridge is out, the ridge where the phone signal comes back.
Guides and porters are insured for high-altitude rescue and medical treatment, equipped with proper gear, and paid above the TAAN minimum. Trekking is a career here, not a season of casual work.
The person who meets you at the hotel in Kathmandu is the person on the pass with you and the one at the farewell dinner. No hand-offs mid-route, no substitutions you did not agree to.
