The Journey

Destination Overview

Bali packs an improbable amount into one small island — black-sand volcanic coasts and turquoise reef beaches, a thousand-year temple culture, and an interior of terraced rice fields that glow green after rain. It is the rare destination that works equally well for a honeymoon, a family holiday and a first trip to Asia.

Our seven-day route works its way around all of it: the south for water sports and cliff-top sunsets, the north for lake temples and mountain gates, and Ubud for the rice terraces, artisan villages and jungle adventure the island is famous for — with one full day left completely free, because nobody should come home from Bali needing a holiday.

  • Route: Kuta → Nusa Dua & Uluwatu → Bedugul & Tanah Lot → Ubud → Kintamani
  • Difficulty: easy — everything is driven, with short walks at temples, terraces and viewpoints
  • Best time to visit: April to October for dry, sunny days; November to March is greener and much quieter
  • Perfect for: couples, families and anyone who wants culture and beach time in the same week

Trip Highlights

Three Signature Bali Experiences

Every day is run privately, with your own driver and an English-speaking guide — so the island moves at your pace rather than a coach party's.

3 Sea Temples

Temples on Water & Cliff

Bali's three great set-pieces, each timed for the light — the lake temple in the morning, the cliff temple in the afternoon, the sea temple at sunset.

  • Ulun Danu Beratan, appearing to float on the lake
  • Uluwatu, perched on a cliff above the Indian Ocean
  • Tanah Lot at sunset, as the tide cuts it off from shore
Ubud

Rice Terraces & Jungle Adventure

The green heart of the island — Tegalalang's stacked terraces, the Aloha swing over the valley, and ATV trails through mud and river crossings.

  • Tegalalang, Bali's most photographed landscape
  • ATV trails and a jungle zipline above the river
  • Artisan villages — painting, batik, wood and silver
Nusa Dua

A Reef-Protected Water Sports Bay

Calm, sheltered, resort-lined water — the safest swimming on the island and the base for a morning of banana boat, parasailing and jet ski.

  • Water sports pass included in the package
  • Flat, protected water — good for nervous swimmers
  • Kuta's long surf beach for the evening sunset walk

Try to land in the afternoon — it leaves you the whole first evening for a sunset walk along Kuta beach.

Day 2

Water Sports at Nusa Dua & the Cliffs of Uluwatu

  • 8–10 hrs
  • South Bali

Hotel pick-up at 09:00 and a drive to the calm, reef-protected water of Nusa Dua for a morning of banana boat, parasailing and jet ski.

Day 3

Lake Temples, Handara Gate & Tanah Lot Sunset

The day finishes at Tanah Lot, the offshore rock temple, as the tide comes in at sunset.

Included: 10 hours of private transport plus all destination entrance fees. Bring a light layer — Bedugul is noticeably cooler than the coast.

Day 4

Free Day — Leisure, Beaches & Shopping

Breakfast at the hotel, and then the day is entirely yours. Kuta for the Beachwalk and Kuta Square; Legian for Jalan Legian and Poppies Street; Ubud for Monkey Forest Road and the Traditional Market; or Seminyak for the flea market and the boutiques along Jalan Petitenget.

Bali is a genuine shopper's island — handcrafted wood, silver, textiles and art. Bargaining is expected in the markets and part of the fun; ask your driver what a fair price looks like.

Day 5

ATV Adventure & the Tegalalang Rice Terraces

  • 10 hrs
  • Ubud

Transfer to Ubud and straight onto the ATV trails — jungle track, river crossings and a great deal of mud.

The afternoon is spent at the Tegalalang rice terraces, with time to walk down into them and stop for coffee overlooking the valley.

Included: transport, destination entrances and the ATV activity fee. Wear clothes you do not mind ruining — you will get muddy.

Day 6

Bali Swing, Zipline & the Kintamani Volcano View

  • From 08:30
  • Kintamani

An early start for the full-day Kintamani and Ubud loop: the famous Aloha swing out over the rice terrace and the jungle zipline, then the Ubud Royal Palace and the village workshops.

The afternoon brings the panorama over Mount Batur and its crater lake, with a coffee plantation stop and tasting on the way back.

Kintamani sits high and cool, with the best volcano views on the island — this is the day to have your camera charged.

Day 7

Last Morning & Airport Transfer

Breakfast and hotel check-out, with half a day free for last-minute shopping depending on your flight time, then a private transfer to Ngurah Rai International Airport for your onward flight.

Good to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

Easy. This is a leisure holiday rather than a trek — every day is driven in a private air-conditioned vehicle, with short walks at the temples and rice terraces. The only slightly active elements are the ATV ride and the walk down into the Tegalalang terraces, and both can be skipped without changing the rest of the day.
April to October is the dry season and the best window overall, with warm days and reliable sunshine; July and August are the busiest. The wet season from November to March still has plenty of sun, usually with one heavy shower in the afternoon, and the island is greener and much quieter — we run the trip year-round and will tell you honestly what to expect in the dates you have.
Most nationalities do, and it is applied for online before you fly. The fee sits outside the package price, but once your trip is confirmed we send you the correct official link and walk you through the application so there are no surprises at immigration.
Private, for your party only. You get your own air-conditioned vehicle and driver, an English-speaking guide on touring days, and an itinerary that bends around your interests and your pace rather than a fixed group schedule.
Completely. The seven days here are our recommended route, not a fixed departure. We regularly add days, change hotel categories, swap the ATV or water sports for something calmer, and extend the trip to Nusa Penida, the Gili Islands or a few nights in a resort at the end.
Light cotton clothing, swimwear, sunscreen and a hat, plus one light layer for the Bedugul and Kintamani highlands, which are noticeably cooler than the coast. Temples require shoulders and knees covered — a sarong is usually provided at the entrance, but bringing your own is easier. For the ATV day, wear clothes you do not mind ruining.
