Rolwaling is the valley between the Khumbu and Langtang that almost nobody visits, hemmed in by Gaurishankar at one end and the Tashi Lapcha pass at the other, and it has kept a character the busier valleys lost thirty years ago. Ramdung Go is its classic climbing objective: a long camping approach, a base camp on glacial moraine and a summit route over a crevassed glacier onto a snow ridge. Nothing about it is desperately technical, but the sustained remoteness makes it a bigger undertaking than its grade suggests — there are no lodges, no road and no quick way out once you are up the valley.

The team reaches the mountain by a drive to Dolakha and a seven-day camping trek up the Rolwaling valley through Simigaon and Beding to the Yalung Ri meadows.
The walk-in is paced for acclimatization rather than speed — short days, controlled altitude gain and rest days where the profile needs them.
We establish Ramdung Base Camp (5,000 m) with dining, kitchen and toilet tents, and run a full practice session on the fixed line — jumar, abseil, crampon technique and crevasse rescue — before the first rotation.

The team moves up to establish high camp, carrying loads and sleeping high before dropping back to rest.

When the forecast gives a usable window the team leaves high camp in the dark for the summit of Ramdung Go (5,925 m) via the North-west glacier and ridge.
After the summit we descend all the way to base camp the same day.

The return retraces the approach at a faster pace, ending with a celebration dinner in Kathmandu and your climbing certificate.
