Day-by-Day Itinerary
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Thamel. The rest of the day is spent on trek preparation, equipment checks, permit processing, and a welcome briefing with your guide. Overnight in Kathmandu (1,400m).
We take an early morning scenic 35-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,840m). Upon arrival at Tenzing-Hillary Airport, we meet our crew and begin our trek. We make a gentle descent along the Dudh Koshi River to Phakding (2,610m) for our first night. Approx. 3-4 hrs, 8km.
The trail crosses several suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River, including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. After registering our permits at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park in Monjo, we make a steep climb to the Sherpa trade hub of Namche Bazaar. Approx. 6-7 hrs, 10.5km.
To adjust to the high altitude, we spend an acclimatization day in Namche. We hike up to the Everest View Hotel (3,880m) for our first stunning panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku before returning to Namche. Approx. 3-4 hrs.
Following a scenic path along the hillside, we descend to Phunki Thenga for lunch. We then make a challenging climb through rhododendron and pine forests to reach Tengboche, home to the largest and most sacred monastery in the Khumbu region. Approx. 5-6 hrs, 10km.
We descend through birch and rhododendron forests, cross the Imja Khola, and walk up to Pangboche village. The trail then transitions into a treeless alpine landscape as we enter the beautiful Dingboche valley. Approx. 5-6 hrs, 11km.
As we are now above 4,000 meters, a second acclimatization day is crucial. We take a scenic acclimatization hike for sweeping views of Makalu, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam, helping our bodies adjust for the higher altitudes ahead. Approx. 4-5 hrs, 4.5km.
We walk across the wide valley to Thukla and then climb a steep path to the top of Thukla Pass, home to stone memorials dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest. From there, a gentle climb brings us to Lobuche. Approx. 5-6 hrs, 8km.
Today is the big day. We trek over rocky glacier trails to Gorak Shep (5,140m), check into our lodge, and then push on towards our ultimate goal: Everest Base Camp (5,364m). We stand at the foot of the world's highest peak and watch the Khumbu Icefall. After celebrating, we return to Gorak Shep for the night. Approx. 7-8 hrs, 12km.
We wake up at 4:00 AM and make a steep climb to the summit of Kala Patthar (5,550m), the highest point of our trek. Here we are rewarded with the ultimate, golden sunrise over Mt. Everest, Nuptse, and Lhotse. Afterwards, we descend to Gorak Shep for breakfast and continue all the way down to Pheriche (4,240m). Approx. 6-7 hrs, 12km.
We descend back down through Pangboche and Tengboche, crossing the suspension bridge and climbing back up to Namche Bazaar. Walking is much easier today as we descend into thicker air. Approx. 7-8 hrs, 19km.
On our last trekking day, we descend from Namche Bazaar back to the Dudh Koshi River and continue via Monjo to Lukla. In the evening, we celebrate the completion of this legendary journey with our local guides and porters. Approx. 6-7 hrs, 18.5km.
We catch an early morning 35-minute flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, we transfer to our hotel. Farewell dinner in Thamel in the evening.
